Explorer Scouts (14 – 18)

We opened our Explorers unit in 2023 and now have 16 Explorer Scouts, both boys and girls, led by Amanda, Allison, Doug and Claire. They meet in our fantastic new Explorer “Den” which is also an exciting space for Explorers to meet from all across Worcester.

As the next step on from Scouts, Explorers are more independent and usually plan and organise most of their own activities themselves with guiding input from Leaders. The skills of independence, resilience, tenacity come through as Explorers reach towards adulthood, getting more advanced at activities and going on longer expeditions and trips abroad.

It’s never too late to join and we welcome Scouts moving up from other groups across Worcester.

Young Leaders (14 – 18)

Joining us as a Young Leader with Beavers, Cubs or Scouts

Young Leaders are Explorer Scouts 14 -18 who volunteer alongside adult leaders. They play an active role in the section, bringing a range of fresh ideas to the table, and acting as positive role models for the young people. Being closer in age than adults they often get directly involved in running games and activities.

Often young leaders are working towards their Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards and may only want to volunteer for a set period of time. Sometimes individuals may want to work in childcare, teaching or youth work later in life and can gain valuable CV building experience. Some basic training is mandatory but there is an optional YL training Scheme which contains 11 modules giving all the skills and knowledge to be successful in their role.

Each of our sections can have up to 3 Young Leaders and we will be happy to discuss potential roles. Just let us know.

Look up your local Scout Group, because you’ve got a safe, practical community who will encourage and support you.'
